Women's House Serving Bruce and Grey to host vigil for Violence Against Women

The Women's House Serving Bruce and Grey will host a candlelight vigil tonight (December 6th) at a local church.

In a release, Women's House says the vigil will be called Violence Against Women: A Time for Remembrance, Awareness and Action. The come-and-go vigil will be held tonight from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Kincardine United Church. People are asked to come and pay respects to the 14 women murdered at Ecole Politechnique in Montreal on this date 32 years ago, as well as women murdered by their intimate partners this year and all women who have been victims of femicide.

Women's House states that this vigil is meant to be a safe, quiet space for reflection and a safe space for women and their male allies. Health protocols will be observed including social distancing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
