New owner for Keppel International Airport

An Airport Tycoon has expanded his operations in Midwestern Ontario.

Clayton Smith, the same man that bought Billy Bishop Regional Airport near Owen Sound has now purchased Keppel International Airport in Wiarton.

In a release, the Township of Georgian Bluffs says the airport has been sold to Smith at a price of $2.6 million.

"I know firsthand the challenges the Township faced but also the unique potential this property has to offer. With substantial capital investments, we can restore, revive and expand the Wiarton Keppel Airport while protecting this important transportation link for all members of the community," stated Smith.

"The Township is very excited to welcome Mr. Smith and his team to the community. We anticipate a successful relationship moving forward, and a successful transition to maintain this important asset for our local and regional community," said Georgian Bluffs Mayor Dwight Burley.
