Outbreak declared at Wellington Terrace

Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home between Elora and Fergus is under COVID-19 outbreak status.

One resident and one staff member tested positive for the virus.

The outbreak status will stay in place until January 4th or at the discretion of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health.

According to a release, officials do say the resident has had mild symptoms and is currently stable and results as to whether the case can be defined as the Omicron variant are still pending.

All visitors, staff and contractors are being rapid tested every time they enter the home, which according to officials is above and beyond the Ministry of Health directives. Any resident or employee that shows the slightest evidence of a health change is immediately tested for COVID-19.

This is the first positive care of COVID-19 in the Wellington Terrace resident population.
