Hundreds of new COVID-19 cases in Midwestern Ontario Thursday

The Grey Bruce Health Unit reported 158 new cases of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, including 29 in Owen Sound, 22 in Kincardine, 15 in Blue Mountains, 15 in West Grey, 14 in Saugeen Shores, twelve in Hanover, seven in Meaford, six in Chatsworth, six in Southgate, five in Arran-Elderslie, five in Brockton , five in South Bruce Peninsula, three in Georgian Bluffs, three in Huron Kinloss, two in Grey Highlands, two in South Bruce, and seven cases classified as Unknown. There are now 552 active cases and seven residents are hospitalized in Grey Bruce due to COVID-19.

Huron Perth Public Health added 97 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, including 23 in Stratford, and 19 in Huron East. Five residents are currently hospitalized with COVID-19. 74 people have now succumbed to the virus in Huron Perth. There are 483 active cases.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported 366 new cases of COVID-19 today, 61 of them in Wellington. There are 378 active cases. There are 30 active cases in Wellington North, 16 in Minto, and 18 active cases in Mapleton.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
