Local area recognized for growth

An area covering portions of Grey and Bruce counties has been ranked as one of Canada's top growth areas in 2021.

An area called "Owen Sound-Port Elgin" is ranked ninth on U-Haul's "Top 25 Canadian Growth Cities", a list that is topped by North Bay.

The data is compiled from one-way U-Haul truck transactions that occur across the country.

Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau says the study shows that his community is one of the fastest-growing in the country, and council's focus continues to be on leveraging this growth to improve the quality of life for all that live there.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
