United Way Perth Huron event will focus on the homeless

The Director of United Way Perth Huron’s Social Research & Planning Council is announcing a Zoom event, the Faces of Homelessness.

Joelle Lamport-Lewis says they wanted to create an event that really humanizes the issue for people and gives them the information they need to understand more about what those experiencing homelessness go through on a daily basis.

"We're trying to bring a voice and faces to homelessness. We have an incredible keynote speaker, Leah den Bok, and she has been taking pictures since she was seventeen all across Canada, with faces of homelessness in communities and hearing their stories," said Lamport-Lewis.

"We're just going to give a sneak peak of the documentary, Us and Them. It's a Canadian documentary that talks about portraits of extraordinary individuals who are homeless, through a ten year cycle. But you can access this by contacting the United Way."

The virtual event will be held on Thursday, January 27th, and will run from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Several local speakers will talk about their experience working with homeless people.
