Traffic stop leads to seizure of weapons and drugs

Grey County OPP seized a number of weapons and drugs following a stop at a RIDE program.

On January 22nd at 1:45 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle at the RIDE program being conducted on Highway 21.

The driver and passenger were both in violation of probation orders, and an investigation and search of the vehicle resulted in police seizing a number of prohibited firearms and drugs, including opioids, illegal cannabis and suspected fentanyl.

The 26-year-old driver from Saugeen Shores and the 19-year-old passenger from Kitchener were both arrested and were held pending bail hearings where they were remanded into custody.

The pair faces a number of drug, weapons and probation violation charges.

Both will be scheduled to appear in court at a later date and the charges have yet to be proven in court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
