Slight uptick in local COVID-19 cases

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is reporting 35 new infections Wednesday. There are at least 146 active cases. 12 residents are currently hospitalized with the virus. To date, 25 deaths have been reported due to COVID-19.    

Five facilities are experiencing outbreaks. These include Rockwood Terrace Long Term Care – Durham, Parkview Manor – Chesley, Lee Manor – Owen Sound,  Kelso Pines Retirement Home  – Owen Sound, and Maple Court Retirement Home - Walkerton. 

Huron Perth Public Health is reporting 37 new cases. 13 residents are hospitalized due to the virus. To date, 86 residents have died because of the virus. There are seven active outbreaks in Huron Perth. 

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health reported 57 new COVID-19 cases, 39 of which are in Wellington County, where there are 150 active cases. 38 residents are currently hospitalized with the virus. To date, 43 Wellington County residents have died due to the virus. 

11 facilities are experiencing outbreaks, including Caressant Care - Fergus, and Caressent Care - Harriston. 

The number of people with COVID-19 in Ontario hospitals is down to 2,939 today, from 3,091 yesterday. There are 555 people in intensive care. That number is down from 568 people yesterday. The province is also reporting 67 more deaths from the virus.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
