Bruce County Council to debate motion on housing crisis

Bruce County Council will discuss a Notice of Motion calling for a staff report to address the housing crisis. The motion has been referred to the Human Services Committee and will be debated on February 17.

The motion points out that the lack of affordable and attainable housing is impeding the attraction and retention of workers in the retail, hospitality, small scale manufacturing, agriculture, and health care sectors.

The staff report would explore how to increase rental opportunities for low to moderate income families, how to attract new supportive housing options for seniors and households with a disability. It will also look at how to expand partnerships between the Bruce County Housing Corporation and the private and the not-for-profit sectors to offer broader access to below market rents in communities across the County in the short term.
