St. Marys advises public of planned convoy

The Town of St. Marys said it is aware of a planned protest expected to begin Friday evening.

Municipal officials say the convoy-style protest is scheduled to start at around 5 p.m. and last approximately 45 minutes.

Traffic will be disrupted as protestors start the demonstration on Queen Street East and proceed west. Nearby streets will likely be impacted as well.

"The Town is in no way affiliated with this protest and asks the organizers and any participants to be respectful of our residents and abide by local by-laws," a statement from the town read.

Members of the Stratford Police Service are also aware of the protest and will in the area monitoring.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
