UPDATE: Fire in Teeswater causes one fatality, investigation ongoing

**Update at 1:15 p.m., February 18th, 2022**

An apartment fire in Teeswater this morning has claimed one life.

It happened at the corner of Clinton and Gordon Streets. There is an area still taped off in that area.

Police and fire were reported to be on the scene as early as 5:15 a.m. Friday. South Bruce OPP are now confirming one person was found inside, and they were taken to hospital where they were later pronounced deceased. Their identity is being withheld pending next of kin being notified.

There is still an investigation on-going at the scene and a cause and damage hasn't been determined at this time. The Ontario Fire Marshall's office and the Coroner's office are assisting with the investigation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
