Winter had a grip on the midwestern Ontario region Saturday.
A blizzard warning and blowing snow advisories lasted through most of the day through most of the region.
Environment Canada stated that an Alberta Clipper was responsible for bringing strong winds and snow to most of southern Ontario Saturday.
Conditions are improving through the evening.
There is still a winter travel advisory for Bruce County but all of the other warnings were dropped just before 7 p.m.
The OPP from various detachments have tweeted that roads are reopened after being closed for most of the day Saturday. That includes Perth, Bruce, Grey and Wellington counties.
In Huron County, road closures were minimal with major routes including stretches of Hwy. 21 and Hwy. 4 closed at one point. Highway 8 east of Goderich was closed for a time due to a crash Saturday afternoon.
Most municipal jurisdictions also declared a significant weather event. The declaration is to notify the public that due to current or forecasted conditions, caution is to be observed when travelling and it may take longer than usual to bring the condition of the roads back to a state of repair.
Through the day, OPP received numerous calls for help.

Roads crews across the region are reporting snow covered roads and heavy drifting on roads across Huron, Perth, Bruce, Grey and northern areas of Wellington.
An visibility can be poor to nil at times because of the high winds and blowing snow.
