Charges laid after stolen vehicle found in ditch

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have have laid several charges against a Goderich man, including theft of a pickup truck.

At approximately 4:40 p.m. on Friday, February 18, Huron County OPP received the report of a pickup truck that was stolen from a parking lot on London Road in Vanastra.

Nearly an hour later, police said a second call came in involving the same pickup truck which was stuck in a ditch just south of Wingham.

OPP officers began patrolling for the suspect who was last seen on foot in Wingham.

Police arrested a 48-year-old man following the incident.

The man now has a court appearance scheduled for March 21, 2022 in Goderich.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
