A million dollar gift left by Hanover man

A Hanover man who passed away in September of last year has left a million dollar legacy donation to the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation.

Mervyn Pfeffer passed away at the age of 88 and on Tuesday, the Foundation received a cheque for $1 million from his Estate.

The President and CEO of Grey Bruce Health Services says the money will help to fund hospital needs including equipment. The annual list of equipment needs for Owen Sound totals close to $10 million and this year includes new workstations on wheels for nurses, an OR table and systems to track and sterilize instruments.

Sims adds the Regional Hospital sees more than 100,000 patients each year from across Grey and Bruce.
