Charity hockey game raises money for Saugeen Hospice

The "Battle of the Badges" raised more than $2100 for Saugeen Hospice.

More than 300 people came to watch the OPP take on the Walkerton Fire Department in a charity hockey game at the Walkerton Arena on Family Day.

In a release, Saugeen Hospice thanked organizers Constable Mike Scott from the OPP and Captain James Lang from the Walkerton Fire Department along with all the team members, food suppliers, and volunteers.

Saugeen Hospice is raising money to design and build a hospice for south Bruce and Grey Counties on land donated by the Municipality of Brockton in the Eastridge Business Park.

"It was a great afternoon and we are so grateful to all those who made it possible", Carl Kuhnke, Chair of Saugeen Hospice said in a release. "We were incredibly humbled by the support."
