Two men charged after disturbance in downtown Owen Sound

A disturbance call in Owen Sound led to two people facing weapons charges.

Owen Sound Police started getting calls around 8:30 last night about a disturbance involving about six people.

When officers arrived, witnesses told them a knife and what appeared to be a handgun were pulled during the altercation.

Police were able to find two suspects who matched witnesses' descriptions and they were taken into custody without incident. Police say they found a folding knife and a pellet gun on the pair.

Police later learned a third person was involved and is accused of being the one to actually brandish the pellet gun.

One 18-year-old is charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

A 29-year-old is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police say the parties were not known to each other.

They are due in court in April.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
