Local hospice has successful fundraiser at the rink

Saugeen Hospice Inc. had a very successful fundraiser recently.

The hospice hosted a "Battle of the Badges" charity hockey game between the OPP and the Walkerton Fire Department at the Walkerton Arena on Family Day. Over 300 spectators came out to watch the game, with $2,100 raised for a hospice to be built in Walkerton. Two of the organizers, Constable Mike Scott from the O.P.P. and Captain James Lang from the Walkerton Fire Department, lined up for the ceremonial puck drop from MPP Lisa Thompson.

The Saugeen Hospice Inc. group is working towards building a hospice facility in Walkerton to serve South Bruce and Grey counties. The Municipality of Brockton has generously donated land for the proposed construction in the Eastridge Business Park.

Anyone interested in donating toward the project can mail cheques to Saugeen Hospice Inc., P.O. Box 20173 Hanover, ON N4N 3T1. Individuals can also provide donations through e-transfer at saugeen.hospice@gmail.com Please remember to provide your name and address.
