Owen Sound approves site plan for new shopping centre

Owen Sound has approved a plan to construct a new shopping centre at the city's southern entrance.

Council voted 7-2 at its meeting on Monday to approve a 'three-unit-plus-drive-thru' site plan on the southwest corner of 10th Street East and 9th Avenue East, across from Tim Hortons and Travelodge.

The property has been vacant for several years but was, at one time, a gas station.

The plan will see a three-unit commercial unit constructed, and will include a drive-thru and 26 parking spaces.

No tenants for the property have been announced.

Construction may begin later this year, although an exact date has not been scheduled at time of reporting.
