Kincardine approves site plan for recycling facility

Kincardine council has approved a site plan agreement for a new industrial sorting and recycling facility.

Staff recommends entering an agreement with BEC Business & Innovation Centre Inc.

The proposed 41,432 square foot facility, located on Farrell Drive, will be primarily used by Bruce Power.

Director of Infrastructure and Development, Adam Weishar, says Bruce Power and Ontario Power Generation (OPG) are looking at how to repurpose and reuse their products instead of sending them to a landfill.

The next step in this agreement is to have the Manager of Development Services/Chief Building Official provide a permit to the applicant.

Their goal is to begin construction this spring, so the facility can open by the end of the year.
