The Huron Country Playhouse has a lot of celebrating to do this year.
After being shut down for two years because of the pandemic, they're back to live presentations this summer and they're celebrating the 50th year of bringing live theatre to Grand Bend.
Artistic Director, Alex Mustakas, says they've limited to a few virtual presentations over the past two years, so they're very exciting about being back live.
“It's kind of a cautious re-opening recovery and we've allowed for a lot of flexibility regarding audience capacity, so people will still have a choice. If they want to attend a full capacity show, that's ok. Early on we're going to have some reduced capacity for people's comfort level.”
Mustakas adds, they will recommend that people wear masks, but it won't be mandated.
“The other thing to note is that we didn't make a unilateral decision regarding capacity levels and things like that. We reached out to our audience. You know, we have 90,000 people in our data base and we had a few surveys, so we're listening as well.”
He also points out, it's very early in the recovery and they have to be flexible to react to conditions as they change.
The 50th anniversary season will open with Fiddler on the Loose and it will run from June 23rd to July 9th on the Mainstage.
