Local council looking at agreement to host meetings at local hospital site

North Huron Council may soon be hosting meetings in the Royal Oaks room at the Wingham Hospital.

CAO Dwayne Evans says staff are currently working on how that may work.

"So council has given direction to staff basically to negotiate with the Wingham Listowel Hospital Alliance to find an agreement. So staff will be engaging in discussions with the hospital regarding a lease agreement and that will be coming back for council's consideration."

Evans adds the location is ideal because the room is operated by a public entity in the Wingham Listowel Hospital Alliance, and the entrance is separate from the rest of the hospital.

"In terms of the area that is proposed for the council chambers, you can access the space without having to go through the entire hospital building. So we will have access into the space and access will be limited throughout the entire building."
