One dead after school bus and SUV crash near Alma

Provincial police in Wellington County say one person is dead after a school bus and a vehicle collided east of Alma.

At around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews responded to a report of a serious crash at the intersection of 14th Line and Sideroad 21. Police say a school bus containing 12 students and an SUV were involved in the crash.

The driver and lone occupant of the SUV was declared dead at the scene. The school bus driver and all of the students were uninjured. The Office of the Chief Coroner has been notified.

OPP have closed the intersection while members of the Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team investigate.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
