Trades programs in Huron and Perth

The Technical Training Group is now accepting applications for the 2022 Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship Multiple Trades Exposure Programs.

They will be held in Huron and Perth counties.

Pre-Apprenticeship Program Administrator Liz Balleto says they are delivering three programs.

The first program will be in Clinton starting at the end of April. The second will be in Stratford in July and the third in Listowel in September.

“These are 25-week tuition free programs for people who want to get in to the skilled trades," said Balleto. "So these programs focus on welding, metal fabricating and machining, there's seventeen weeks of in-class training, it runs in the evenings and a couple of Saturdays a month.”

Balleto also points out they are ministry-funded programs. So while the cost of tuition is covered, so are the costs for things such as safety boots, welding helmets, and gear bags.

Balleto says applicants have to be 18-years-old, or older, by the time the program ends and they need to have their high school diploma or GED and they have to be eligible to work in Ontario.

Anyone looking for more information or wanting to apply for the program can go to www.technicaltraininggroup.org.
