Overturned truck closes portion of Highway 31

Provincial police in Huron County have closed part of Sharpes Creek Line Monday afternoon after a single-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer.

At around 4:30 p.m., police responded to the area of Huron County Road 31 near Forresters Line for a report of an overturned truck. Emergency crews arrived on the scene and located the truck on its side on the west shoulder of the road with a load of granular fertilizer spilled into the ditch.

The driver of the vehicle is said to have sustained minor injuries. The Ministry of Environment has also been contacted and will be attending the area.

As of 6 p.m., Sharpes Creek Line remains closed between Huron Road to the south and Londesboro Road to the north while crews clear the scene.

Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
