County receiving record-breaking amount of planning applications

The Bruce County Planning & Development Department say they continue to receive a record-breaking volume of planning applications through the first quarter of 2022.

They say 110 applications were received in that timeframe, compared to the previous record of 108 in the same quarter last year.

"With the Planning and Development Department continuing to see record application numbers, the outlook for 2022 is another strong year of housing development and this will be positive for the economy coming out of the pandemic", says Director of Planning and Development Mark Paoli.

He adds this has created opportunities to increase the rental housing supply. Recent projects include a 50-lot subdivision in Port Elgin; new townhouses in Kincardine; and a project for 8 one-bedroom townhouse units on private services in Hepworth.

Bruce County Warden Janice Jackson adds, "Bruce County is a wonderful place to own a business and raise a family, and we continue to see that through the interest in development shown in our record planning application numbers."
