Man pleads guilty to charges stemming from fatal car crash

A 26-year-old Kincardine native has plead guilty to charges that stem from a fatal crash in late 2021.

On November 7th, 2021, West Grey Police responded to a call regarding the driver of a stolen pickup truck. The truck was being driven erratically and at speeds upward of 150 km/h. The driver ran over a tire deflation device and then struck a car travelling in the opposite direction, resulting in the death of a 40-year-old male, and serious injuries to a 14-year-old girl and the 26-year-old suspect. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Kincardine resident Jeremy Hogg, was charged with Criminal Negligence Causing Death, Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm (2 counts), Robbery and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $ 5,000.00

On May 4th, Hogg plead guilty in the Ontario Court of Justice and was sentenced to 7 years in prison, 9 months of pre-sentence custody, a lifetime firearms prohibition, a 20 year driving prohibition and a court ordered DNA sample.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
