Diesel spill being cleaned up at Owen Sound park

A part of Harrison Park in Owen Sound is closed because of a diesel spill.

City officials say a small amount of diesel fuel from an unknown source was spilled in a parking lot.

City staff and Owen Sound Fire were out laying spill response materials in the area including the adjacent watercourse on the west side of the Island section of Harrison Park.

The Ontario Spills Action Centre was contacted and a contractor licensed by the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks is actively working with staff on cleanup efforts.

The parking area north and east of the Harrison Park inn, and access to the Ski Hill Parking area at Harrison Park remain closed to vehicles.

And residents and visitors are asked to stay clear of the area until the barricades are removed.
