Police lay charges in high value theft

Grey-Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have recovered stolen items and arrested a woman in a theft case that dates back to late 2021.

The theft was originally reported to police on November 27, 2021. When they responded, officers found that property, including a collection of artwork, was stolen from a business located on Shane Street, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The Grey-Bruce Major Crime Unit (MCU) said that it recovered stolen items valued at approximately $156,000 on May 5, 2022.

Police arrested a 42-year-old woman from Owen Sound on Wednesday, May 18. She faces multiple possession of stolen property charges and one count of failure to comply with a probation order.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
