SIU terminates investigation into arrest in Owen Sound

The Director of the Special Investigations Unit has terminated an investigation into a recent arrest in Owen Sound.

In a release, the SIU says Director Joseph Martino has ended an investigation stemming from an arrest of a 57-year-old woman in Owen Sound on April 3rd. On that day, an officer with the Owen Sound Police Service made the arrest on an outstanding warrant. The following day, after her release from custody, the woman told a police officer she suffered a broken left leg while she had been in police custody. The SIU reviewed the woman's medical records and determined she had not in fact suffered any type of fracture.

The SIU states that because the woman did not suffer any type of injury while in police custody, the Director was satisfied to close the investigation into this case.
