Huron Perth residents can access Urgent Needs Fund through 211 helpline

United Way Perth Huron recently introduced access to its Urgent Needs Fund through the 211 helpline.

So, Executive Director, Ryan Erb, says now they're working to grow the fund to make sure they can continue assisting across the two counties with immediate, pressing needs. Erb explains, the Urgent Needs Fund fills gap in the local network of human services. He says, this past year alone, they were able to help over eight-hundred people with pressing needs like groceries, emergency car repairs, bill arrears and more. Erb says they're appealing to members of the community who already have a safety net in times of need to giver in support of those who don't

Erb says people can drop off or mail donations to the United Way Perth Huron offices at 32 Erie Street in Stratford, N5A 2M4, or donations can also be made online by visiting perthhuron.unitedway.ca and click ‘Donate Now’.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
