North Perth to continue helping with fire service coverage in part of neighbouring municipality

North Perth Council have renewed a fire services agreement with West Perth.

At their meeting this week, Mayor Todd Kasenberg says council approved sticking with the agreement that has been in place for a number of years now that sees North Perth's Monkton station help cover part of West Perth.

"North Perth has the capabilities to support the north part of Logan Township, which is in the municipality of West Perth. So that agreement is really sort of replicating an agreement that happened 7 years ago."

Kasenberg adds that North Perth wanteds to continue offering the service, given the geographical advantages that it offers West Perth in the northern part of Logan Township.

"We're continuing to offer that service, and it's just a lot more convenient and responsive for West Perth in that part of its municipality to have North Perth help provide fire solutions."

Kasenberg says it isn't unusual to see these types of agreements amongst municipalities when it comes to a range of services.
