Council votes to approve new Community Developer Program position

North Perth Council has approved a new position to be filled in a partnership with United Way Perth Huron and the City of Stratford.

CAO Kris Snell says the Community Developer Program position will see someone hired that will essentially be in charge of coordinating and navigating local programs and services for the community.

"We are looking to hire a person that will be more or less a navigator for social and health services in our community. So they'll work with people with issues coming out of COVID-19, mental health, homelessness, and addressing some issues in the Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan."

Now, Snell says that a job posting will go up to find someone suitable to fill the position. The cost of the new hire is being mostly funded through the City of Stratford.

"It has been approved by council and we will be posting something shortly for people to apply for the position. The City of Stratford is the main funder, as they are providing $70,000 of the proposed $95,000 budget, and the rest will come from North Perth's budget."
