Bayfield reopens Main Street

The Main Street in Bayfield is now open for the summer.

Bayfield Ward councillor, Bill Whetstone says phase one was completed on time and on budget.

“Great job by everybody, they kept on budget, kept on schedule, even through some very bad weather they kept plugging away and now things are where they should be. So we're wide open again now for everybody to come down, parking all on Main Street and it should be a great summer.”

Whetstone says the work was done in phases so that only some sections of the Main Street were closed at any time.

“It was basically minimal impact and everybody had nothing but positives to say about how great the crews were for this first phase. So, the next phase starts up right after Labour Day and that's when we get into sidewalks and all the aesthetic aspects of it.”

Whetstone says the project is expected to be completed by May of 2023.
