Perth County OPP release numbers from Canada Road Safety Week

Perth County OPP have released their numbers from Canada Road Safety Week, which ran from June 25th to July 3rd.

The release says that Perth County OPP officers were on the lookout for the "Big 4" factors that typically cause accidents, which are Impaired Driving, Distracted Driving, Aggressive Driving and Failing to wear a Seatbelt. Perth County OPP laid a total of 312 charges including 200 for speeding, 27 for failing to wear a seatbelt and 2 for stunt driving. In addition, four drivers were charged with impaired driving. During the campaign, Perth County OPP investigated 17 motor vehicle collisions, with minor injuries reported at two of the scenes.

Overall during the campaign, OPP officers laid over 14,000 traffic charges during Canada Road Safety Week across Ontario.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
