Body of missing swimmer recovered in Guelph Lake

OPP members have recovered the body of the swimmer reported missing in Guelph Lake on July 17, 2022.

On July 18, 2022, at about 9:45 a.m.,  the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit along with members of the Wellington County OPP recovered the body of the missing swimmer in Guelph Lake at the Guelph Lake Conservation Area.

Wellington County OPP Constable Jacob Unger said OPP and firefighters began the search about 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening, after responding to reports of a swimmer in distress about 20 metres from shore.   The search was called off at dark, and resumed Monday morning.

The coroner has attended the scene and a post mortem has been scheduled.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending next-of-kin notifications.
