Rookie trotters race at Clinton

Harness racing was able to run at Clinton Raceway Sunday afternoon after some morning rain.

Rookie trotters lined up behind the gate in race 2 for the $7,200 Prospect Series division. Fantastic Mvp and driver Anthony Haughan floated off the gate and waited on racing action to settle before moving to the top prior to the quarter mile mark.

He held off all challengers for a redemption win after a costly break in Ontario Sires Stakes action on July 3rd at the Huron County oval.

The son of My Mvp navigated the off track conditions to capture the event and pick up the $3,600 winner’s cheque for Hall of Fame trainer Carl Jamieson. Fantastic Mvp picked up his first lifetime win, while bringing his lifetime earnings to $4,880 in just five starts.

Prospect Series action returns to Clinton Raceway on Sunday, July 31st for 2 year old filly pacers. Next Sunday is also dollar day and Caretaker Appreciation Day at Clinton Raceway.

Fans can enjoy dollar hot dogs, ice cream and programs all afternoon long.

Racing action gets underway at 1:30 p.m.
