UPDATE: Heavy rainfall follows powerful storm tracking through midwestern Ontario

A rainfall warning has been issued after a line of powerful thunderstorms made its way across Midwestern Ontario on Wednesday.

Environment Canada says showers and thunderstorms will continue overnight. The system has the potential to bring rainfall amounts of 50 to 75 millimetres over a some locales.

Meteorologists say the rainfall is expected to taper off into lighter showers overnight.

The rainfall warning comes after a dramatic afternoon of weather warnings.

A severe thunderstorm system rumbled throughout the area on Wednesday. Funnel clouds were spotted throughout the region during the afternoon which resulted in a several tornado warnings.

All tornado and severe thunderstorm watches and warnings have since been lifted.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
