Man arrested and charged following break-in theft at local business

Perth County OPP have arrested and charged one person following a break-and-enter theft at a local business.

On August 3rd, police received a report of a break-and-enter theft at a business on Line 34 in the Township of Perth East. The business has a monitored security system. Officers were alerted after a motion alarm was set off. Police arrested a male leaving the area with a bag containing stolen property from the business. As a result, a 20-year-old Perth South man has been charged with Break, Enter a place - with intent to commit indictable offence, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada, Obstruct Peace Officer, Resist Peace Officer and Assault A Peace Officer with a weapon.

The accused was held in police custody pending a bail hearing. Anyone with any information regarding this crime should contact Perth County OPP or Crime Stoppers.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
