Saugeen Shores lowers speed limit due to road safety concerns at Lamont Sports Park

Saugeen Shores council has announced more speed reductions on local roadways, this time in front of the new Lamont Sports Park.

Councillors voted to drop the speed limit from 80 km/h to 60 km/h along Concession Road 6, at the south end of Port Elgin.

Staff recommended making the change in order to address concerns around safety on roadways around the sports park, which is currently scheduled to open next year.

Saugeen Shores has lowered speed limits along a number of roadways in recent years, much of it to do with a rising population, and steady tourist activity.
