Barn fire leads to loss of cattle in Wellington County

At about 1:00 a.m. Saturday, members of the Wellington County OPP responded to a structure fire on Wellington Road 17, west of Alma. It was reported that a barn containing cattle was fully engulfed.

Centre Wellington Fire Rescue, Mapleton Fire / Rescue, The Township of Woolwich Fire Department, and Guelph Wellington Paramedic Services also responded.

Wellington Road 17 remained closed for fire operations through the night but is now open. 

There were no injuries reported however 67 head of cattle are reported to have been lost in the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
