Police respond to drowning in Chatsworth Township

One person unfortunately could not be resuscitated after they were found unresponsive in the water in Chatsworth.

According to Grey Bruce County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), emergency crews in Chatsworth and Grey County responded to a reported drowning at around 5:44 p.m. Thursday.

Police say the individual was removed from the water and life saving measures were preformed on them. The person was pronounced dead after attempts to revive them were unsuccessful.

Investigators have not specified exactly where the drowning happened, but mentioned that they are aware of a video of the incident has surfaced on social media. Police say they are working on having the video removed.

The investigation is ongoing but deemed non-suspicious. The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
