Some municipal candidates acclaimed as of late Monday afternoon

There have been a number of acclamations declared in local municipalities.

Across the province, candidates running in the municipal elections without any opponents were acclaimed yesterday at 4 p.m.

In Huron County there were acclamations for Mayor or Reeve in four municipalities.

Glen McNeil in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, Jamie Heffer in Morris-Turnberry, Doug Harding in Howick, and Paul Klopp in Bluewater.

There were a number of council positions also acclaimed in a number of areas.

In Perth County, Jim Aitcheson in Perth South was acclaimed as was Al Strathdee in St. Marys.

In Bruce County the acclamations for mayor were Chris Peabody in Brockton, Steve Hammell in Arran-Elderslie and Luke Charbonneau in Saugeen Shores.

In Wellington County, Dave Turton was acclaimed in Minto and Gregg Davidson in Mapleton.

The municipal election is October 24.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
