Times set for Stanley Cup arrival in Sauble Beach

The Stanley Cup is coming to Bruce County.

The Town of South Bruce Peninsula is welcoming home Colorado Avalanche defenseman and Stanley Cup Champion Kurtis MacDermid.

MacDermid will be bringing the trophy to his hometown of Sauble Beach on Monday, August 29th.

The parade will begin at 12:30pm, and travel south along Lakeshore Blvd. from the boat launch to the main stage under the Sauble Beach sign.

There will be free parking in Sauble until 2 p.m. for those who would like to attend.

“We are incredibly proud of Kurtis; he is a champion and role model for the youth of our community. We will be there to welcome him when he brings the Stanley Cup home,” stated Mayor Janice Jackson.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
