Saugeen Hospice receives fundraising from local garden tour

A local garden tour that took place last summer as a fundraiser presented a cheque to Saugeen Hospice Inc. recently.

The Walkerton and District Optimist Club presented the proceeds raised from their 2021 Garden Tour in the amount of $2,700 at the home of Doug and Darlene Thompson, one of the properties that participated in the tour. Saugeen Hospice Inc. is raising funds for the building of a new hospice that will serve southern Bruce and Grey counties. It was founded in 2021 and received charitable status earlier this year from the Canada Revenue Agency.

The planned new hospice, which will offer free end-of-life care, is slated to be built in Walkerton.
