Boil water notice issued for users of Benmiller drinking water system

A boil water notice has been issued for users of the Benmiller drinking water system.

The Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh says the precautionary advisory is due to an equipment failure at a nearby wellhouse.

Samples have been sent to Huron Perth Public Health, and while the notice may be lifted following analysis, the township notes that this "may take several days."

Users of the Benmiller system are asked to boil water at a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to drinking, using it to brush teeth, wash food, make ice or make baby food.

Washing, bathing, showering, laundry and dishwashing can be carried out as usual.

A-C-W says a notice will be posted on its website when the notice is lifted.
