Township gives notice of candidate withdrawal for upcoming municipal election

The Township of Wellington North is advising voters of a candidate withdrawal for the upcoming municipal elections.

In a release on September 21, the Township of Wellington North states that they received written notice on Friday, September 16 that Ward 2 candidate Menno Klunder wished to withdraw from the election. The release adds that "under the provisions of Section 36 (a) of the Municipal Elections Act, a candidate must withdraw their name in person no later than 2:00 p.m. on nomination day, which was August 19. The municipality may not accept the withdrawal and Menno Klunder’s name will appear on the ballot for Ward 2."

There are two candidates for Wellington North Councillor Ward 2, Sherry Burke and Menno Klunder. The municipal elections are set to take place on October 24th, 2022.
