Bail granted to two people charged in death of Lucas Shortreed

Two people charged in the death of Lucas Shortreed have been granted bail.

David and Anastasia Halliburton were granted bail after being taken into custody on Wednesday, and charged for their alleged involvement in a fatal hit and run that killed the 18-year-old who was walking home from a party in Alma in 2008. On Wednesday, police said a breakthrough in their investigation resulted in the search of a home in Mapleton Township, a few kilometres from the crash site, where two people were charged and a vehicle was recovered.

Dave Halliburton has been charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving bodily harm, while Anastasia has been charged with accessory after the fact and obstructing justice.

These allegations have not been proven in court.

The accused are scheduled to attend a court hearing on October 25th.
