High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

There was a heavy police presence in Southgate Wednesday while police searched for a person accused of uttering threats involving a firearm.
Around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday police were called to an area of Grey Road 9 and Southgate Sideroad 3 for a report that someone was threatened with a firearm.
In a release police say officers closed Grey Road 9 from Southgate Sideroad 47 and Southgate Sideroad 49 for public safety.
Around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday police arrested a suspect.
Police say there is no longer a threat to the public and more details will be provided when they become available.
