Loaded gun seized after car crash by Grey Bruce OPP

Provincial police say they located a loaded gun and drugs after responding to crash in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula earlier in the week.

According to Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers responded to a crash along Highway 21 at around 2:22 p.m. Tuesday.

Over the course of the investigation, police reportedly located a firearm inside one of the vehicles involved in the crash.

As a result a 26-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, both of Saugeen Shores, are jointly charged with a lengthy list of charges including:

• Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm.

• Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm.

• Occupying a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm inside.

• Knowledge of an unauthorized possession of firearm.

• Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose.

• Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with.

The man faces an additional four charges of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and failure to comply with a release order. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing while the woman was released with a future court date.
