Kincardine Reservoir construction begins Monday

The second phase of work on the Kincardine Reservoir is set to begin on Monday, October 17.

Work at the Water Treatment Plant includes improving cement work and waterproofing the reservoir.

Affected residents include those within the former Town of Kincardine, Huronville subdivision, and those along the pipeline to Inverhuron.

During this time, water conservation is important. The town advises avoiding activities like filling hot tubs and pressure washing. Residents should also reduce indoor water usage while construction is underway, like reducing shower times and limiting laundry.

The Township of Huron-Kinloss’ Drinking Water System will supply drinking water during the work period.

“The system will continue to supply its regular users while supporting those affected by the maintenance work in the Municipality of Kincardine,” says Director of Infrastructure and Development Adam Weishar. “We appreciate the efforts of our residents to conserve water during this time. It helps make sure there’s enough water for us and the neighbouring Township that’s helping us out.”

Users should note that Huron-Kinloss’ groundwater wells have elevated levels of naturally occurring sodium and fluoride. These are safe but may contribute to a difference in taste and colour.

The estimated completion date is set for November 25.
